    Battery Strap Re-installation?

Does anyone have any tips for re-installing the battery strap?  I end up spending an embarrassing amount of time fiddling with it to get the ring aligned and pushing down with screwdrivers or whatever tool I can find.  Since I have to get in there again next month, just wondering if someone has any tips for tools or techniques to making it more efficient.

Hi, I put in connectors to a battery conditioner a year ago. I had to lift the battery away to attach the wires. As I remember I struggled quite a bit to get the stap back on. No easy way, it took about 30 mins. of swearing but managed. Sorry I couldn't help.

At least it's not just me!  I'd rather remove and replace the rear wheel than deal with the strap.

You're definitely not alone with struggling with that damn battery strap.  I had the same frustrating experience with trying to pull enough stretch on the rubber strap then hook the metal ring at the bottom of the battery with absolutely no space enough for my fat fingers... I gave up and tucked it so it looks like it's strapped in and called it a day...LOL  so far so good I guess!?

All the best to you if you go at it again...

Flashbacks!  I did that same thing one time assuming the battery doesn't have room to really go anywhere, even though I really want the strap there due to my OCD.  I'll be encountering it again soon as I have to put the stock exhaust (and hanger) back on for a couple of Laguna days.

Would a Li battery help? I don't the dimensions but know that they are smaller. :152:

Also this, as it was definitely easier to do when I put in a Lithium battery, but still more difficult that it needed to be...

Yeah, I've had a Lithium battery in there for a couple of years.  I suppose it makes it easier if you need to move the battery around.  I need something like a forked flat head screwdriver, or really a pair of them.

Yeah, I've been using the flat-head screwdriver method you mentioned, and got so used to having to do it that way that it rarely takes more than a couple tries these days. Something forked would be ideal though, you're right. Though now that I think of it, I have a tool in a big allen/torque key set that would be perfect on the end of a screwdriver with a changeable tip. This thing...

I put on a battery tender socket today and experienced this for the first time. Maddening. This and the bolted down seat. WTF?! What engineer thinks these are good ideas? So frustrating and seemingly so needless.
