trackbike... oem or aftermarket rearsets ?
on: November 21, 2020, 10:32:57 PM
I have bought a used 765 .  It is on its way from up North .    there is a track school in January that I want to go to  in Florida. Any comments on the track clearance for an intermediate rider using the oem rear sets?.  I dont want to spend a lot of money going to the school and finding that 1) I dont like the after market rearsets I put on it or 2) be dragging the oem's on the track . If the oem's are ok I will wait till I get back . Uses woodcraft in the past and would like something else.

Congrats on your new to you D765!

Because I'm still waiting on my custom rearsets, I've put ~1,500 track miles first in Intermediate, now in A group at 3 different tracks on the stock rearsets.  Knee goes down long before the foot pegs, still haven't touched down any hard parts and recording as much as 55 degrees of lean angle.  I do have the California Superbike School (by Gilles Tooling) foot pegs but they're still folding and the clearance is roughly the same as the stock pegs without the feelers (or as Triumph calls them, the 'bank angle sensor').  If your BP is good, I think you'll be just fine on the OEM pegs but be ready to take the feelers off the ends if they touch.

For what it is worth...

The Stock pegs will be work.
However... Folding pegs can be annoying (this is an opinion).
In my experience, avoiding things that are annoying/distracting on the track is important.
